Spring Cleaning Guide
Spring is right around the corner which means spring cleaning is upon us! Sometimes the idea of spring cleaning can be so overwhelming that we usually put things off longer than we should. The good news is there are ways to make cleaning easier and quicker. Whether you pick up some new hacks or follow our cleaning schedule, you’ll love this spring cleaning guide!
Create a Routine
A routine is one of the best hacks you can use. The idea is that you simply you might laugh at the thought, but are you actually following a routine. I know I tend to say “tomorrow” until I find myself overwhelmed. Doing something each and every day takes away the overwhelm and if you fight through the boredom then it will become a habit! For example, you might wash a load of laundry each morning or unload the dishwasher each morning and fill every evening. This works well because it prevents cleaning jobs from getting out of hand.
Follow a Cleaning Schedule
You can find a number of cleaning schedules and spring cleaning guides online. The first time you go through the schedule, it may seem to take a while. However, the more months you follow this schedule, the easier it will become- good habits remember?
When you follow a cleaning schedule, you end up spending less than an hour each day cleaning. Because you’re always rotating what you clean, nothing gets too dirty, unless of course, you have children. Psst….. We have a declutter guide that easily doubles as a spring cleaning guide!
Have a Bin for Random Clutter
Another great spring cleaning hack is to bring a bin with you to each room. When it’s time to clean the house, put things that don’t belong in a particular room in the bin. When you’re done, the objects in the bins to the right room. This will greatly reduce the time it takes to straighten your home. I use a cardboard box or laundry basket.
Use a Natural All-Purpose Cleaner
Stop using so many cleaners to clean your home. You can clean so many things using a mixture of water and white vinegar. Mix the two ingredients in a spray bottle and use it to clean your counters, bathtub, and more. You can even add essential oils that will improve the sanitation of the cleaner even more. Try adding lemon oil for sanitation purposes and lavender for the scent.
I’ll be honest I started doing this because my oldest has asthma and can’t handle the chemicals in the air. Not only is cleaning this way healthier for your lungs, it’s shockingly less expensive. We save a bundle by making homemade cleaners.
Steam Clean Your Microwave
Cleaning the microwave is one of those jobs that everyone hates. Scrubbing off all the food that splattered on the walls takes to long, but you can cut that time down to a minute by steam cleaning.
All you need to do is mix equal parts water and vinegar and microwave for 2 to 3 minutes. Allow the mixture to set in the microwave for another 2 to 3 minutes. You can then dip your cleaning rag in the mixture and easily wipe all the gunk off the walls. It’s so, so easy.
Cleaning your home doesn’t have to take up all your free time. There are so many hacks you can use to make cleaning your home easier and quicker.
